Whether to cover a donor search is a decison that varies among plans. WHile some do cover, others specifically exclude a search from coverage, even if they may pay for the actual transplant or even donor costs. Wheereas 41% of patients in a recent survey did not ahve coverage for asearch, ultimately the majority were able to obtain fundng from the insurere or privately and only 5% were unable to perform a search for financial reasons alone.
