Iron deficiency ahs been associated with hair loss, but what kind of loss and to what extent remains unknown. There is published data, although small numbers, on whether those women with hair loss and docu-mented iron deficiency will grow hair with correction of the iron deficiency. Those with telogen effluvium looking for a primary explanation of the hair loss merely require making sure that some other factor that could explain the hair loss is not at play
and then seeing whether the hair loss improves with treatment of the iron deficiency.
