A minimally acceptable platelet count prior to surgery remains controversial. We are asked in the past counts above 70 were considered to be necessary, more recent literature and guidelines support the platelet count of 50,000 has been acceptable for most surgeries, although not for neurosurgical and other high risk surgeries. As such Octagam is not being requested for medically accepted indication.
