Atypical Ductal Hyperplasia and screening with MRI – pro

In atypical hyperplasia, there is a proliferation of dysplastic, monotonous epithelial-cell populations that include clonal subpopulations, that confers highrisk of breast cancer. Still, screening magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) is not routinely recommended for these women.Within these higher risk populations, studies show that the sensitivity of MRI in detecting breast cancers during screening is between 71% and 100%.   In contrast, the sensitivity of mammography alone is between 16% and 40%. However, how MRI compares to other and combined detection modalities has not been conclusively determined.
