Acute lung dysfunction of noninfectious etiology, known as idiopathic pneumonia syndrome (IPS), is a severe complication following hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (HSCT). IT ws first thught to be autoimmune and ti responded to sterodis, buyt a study of Enbrel did not show an advantage to using Enbrel. Nore recent thinking sabout it suggests that some cases may involve an acute infection. Enbrel remains experiementall and needs much more study before routine use.
