PET for renal cell carcinoma – pro

Whether PET can be used to resolve questions about involvement of nodes by metastatic renal cell cacrcinoma is under investigation. ESMO says: “Fluorodeoxyglucose-positron emission tomography
(18FDG-PET) is not a standard investigation in the
diagnosis and staging of clear cell RCC (ccRCC) and should not
be used. The role of new tracers is under investigation only”.
NCCN sasy: “The value of PET in RCC remains to be determined.” It does nto lsit PET on p. KLID-1.
