Stem cell transplantation in LAD-1 deficeincy

Treatment of leukocyte adhesion deficiency is with prophylactic antibiotics, often given continuously (usually trimethoprim/sulfamethoxazole). Granulocyte transfusions can also help, and in milder cases is directed to symptoms. Hematopoietic stem cell transplantation is the only effective treatment to date and can be curative, although gene therapy and newer treatments are being studied.
